Thumbelina: Carlyn Nuyda Calloway

In Sherman Oaks, California lives another successful Filipino-American in the name of Carlyn Nuyda Calloway. For the past 13 years she has been known as "Thumbelina" for creating wedding dresses, tiaras and accessories. How big she was? Celebrities now want to wear her creations. Julia Roberts wore one of Thumbelina’s tiaras during her 2001 wedding. When Calloway began making baby carriers, Denzel Washington bought a pair for Roberts’ twins. Barbara Walters has featured her on “The View.” Her current project is a wedding dress for day time soap star Jennifer Birmingham.

Jasper Garvida @ London Fashion Week

At the recent London Fashion Week, JASPER GARVIDA presents his Spring/Summer 2011 Collection dubbed as “Belle.” Inspired by Paris in 1951, his collection in the catwalk was the epitome of style and femininity. The collection used a wide variety of luxury fabrics like silk organza, brocade, jersey, voile and cloque complimented with hand-embellished details, textured looped organza, and elements of beatnik movement.

"Jasper Garvida" by Pinoy fashion designer Jasper Garvida is now a luxury women’s fashion brand. It was established in the UK in November 2008.
